The diamond uses white fabric or stabilizer appliquéd under the thread to cover up dark fabric, so the thread will stand out.  Stitch with iridescent thread for a sparkling effect.

These switch plate and outlet covers were created as templates for a digitizing swap.  They are the only designs on my website that I offer free of copyright restrictions.  You are welcome to download them and use them to create designs of your own, whether free or for sale.

All of the switch plate and outlet covers can be sewn in the 5x7 hoop.  The single sized covers also come split for the 4x4 hoop.  Instructions are included.  Info about plastic light switch covers is also included.

"Minnesota Nights" was my very first design set.  They were made for a friend, to be stitched with glow-in-the-dark thread on a black shirt.  See the projects page for the wishy-washy wash cloth made with these designs. Gregory August Allyn Brown
December 31, 1984 - September 14, 1999

Gregory always had a smile on his face, and after he lost his hair, he loved to wear his tall smiley-face hat. At the dinner table, he would volunteer to say the prayer, and without fail, he always began his prayers like this:

"Dear Father in Heaven, thank you for this bee-YOO-tiful day, and please help tomorrow to be another sunny day."

No matter how bad his day went, he maintained a positive outlook, even after his diagnosis with leukemia. At the cemetery, his ashes are wrapped in a Wal-Mart bag, because it had smiley faces on it. (He would have laughed at the idea.) Yellow daffodils, crocuses, and tulips bloom every spring around his headstone, to symbolize his sunny nature.

Greg died September 14, 1999, at age 14.  In his memory, I am offering these smiley face patch and appliqué designs.  Here are several different ways you can stitch them out, to give them different looks.

Yellow appliqué on white

White appliqué on black

Appliqué patch on black felt with Nite Lite glow-in-the-dark thread

Yellow fill-stitch patch on black

Yellow fill-stitch patch on white

All smiley designs are 2.8 x 2.8 inches.

Greg's mask had a "bullet hole" painted on it.  On the day of this photo, he put on the mask, then hit the call light.  When they answered, he told the nurse he had a terrible headache, and had blood running down his face.  Several nurses ran into the room as fast as they could, and this is what they saw.

Please click on Greg's picture to get your free smiley face designs.
Thank you for visiting my website.

Deb Speer made this shirt for her sister using the applique smiley design.  She added some miniature battery-operated lights she bought from Embroidery Garden at www.embroiderygarden.com.  She also added a pocket in the back, to put the battery and cords in.

Way to go, Deb!
