A handsome ski instructor in Eagle's Peak, Val Nicholas is the son of the people with whom Cherry resides while she is nursing at a small emergency hospital in Switzerland. He helps Cherry brush up on her skiing technique and is instrumental in uncovering a gang of smugglers who are relaying stolen watchworks from Switzerland to Italy (Ski Nurse Mystery).
