"The Playhouse Mystery," by Helen Wells, a Cherry Ames story
Cherry, at the behest of her old friend and mentor Dr. Joe, visits the Green Mountains of Vermont as a nurse to actress Meg Morrow, who's recuperating from a heart operation--and facing the unwelcome realization that she is no longer young. Cherry helps her overcome her depression and uncovers a scam at the local summer stock theater.

Meg Morrow is only one of Cherry's celebrity patients; others include concert pianist Scott Owens historical novelist Martha Logan; young ballet dancer Leslie Crewe; movie mogul John Blaine; and writer Matthew Jeffrey.

"The Glass Madonna," by Trudi Arlen, a Kay Collins story
Kay's secretarial career lands her in Italy for a Venetian glass exhibit and conference, where her kindness to an elderly signora leads to a special gift--and a new adventure.
"Sally Hits the Bull," by Arthur Waterhouse
Farm girl Sally learns to overcome her fear of guns and shooting when a crisis arises.
"Penelope Gets the Message," by Theo Lynch
Penelope hopes to become a detective someday--but in the meantime, she's working at a manufacturing firm and pondering clues to a payroll theft.
"The Spanish Picture Mystery," by Sylvia Edwards, a Sally Baxter story
Even on vacation in the Mediterranean, the "girl reporter" finds a mystery, this one involving an art scam.

Both of the Cherry Ames stories in this annual, though credited to Helen Wells, were ghostwritten by Hope Campbell.

"Live and Learn," by Joyce Stranger
The school camping holiday should be a break from too much organization and discipline--or so a group of girls believe.
"A Caravan Named Mopsy," by D. M. Priestley
A stranger inexplicably wants to purchase Heather and Natella's caravan, which they use as a traveling shop.
"The Fifty Mile Road," by Ivy Russell
On a road trip in British Columbia, two girls take a wrong turn and find a mysteriously deserted town.
"The Trouble with Sarah," by Helen Wells, a Cherry Ames story
As a school nurse at the Benson School on Manhattan's Upper West Side, Cherry befriends frail, sensitive student Sarah Lenard, who is neglected by busy parents, overshadowed by a popular older sister, and fascinated by ships.

Cherry is also a school nurse at the Jamestown School for Girls in Boarding School Nurse.

"The Helping Hand," by Agnes Booth. Shopkeeper Miss Honey is well-known for lending a helping hand, so a young couple naturally turn to her for assistance.
"A Friend to All," by Sylvia Edwards. This factual account explains the duties and training of the "health visitor" in Great Britain, a type of visiting nurse.
